Robert Sweet, Jr
Robert ("Bob") Sweet was a major force behind government efforts to improve reading instruction in the United States during Republican administrations from Ronald Reagan to George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush.

In 1981 Sweet joined the Reagan administration and was named director of the National Institute of Education which had been created in 1972 by the Nixon administration.
